Pre & Post NCT Repairs

Des Golden Specialist Cars carry out pre- and post-NCT repairs at our workshop in Cork.

The NCT is an annual test of a car’s safety, roadworthiness and exhaust emissions. A valid NCT certificate is a legal requirement for most vehicles over 4 years old. If your car passes its NCT you will receive an NCT certificate, valid until your car must be tested again. However, if your car fails, our qualified and experienced technicians at Des Golden Specialist Cars can sort out any repairs needed for the retest.

In an ideal world, your car will pass the NCT at the first examination keeping you safely on the road, and while our team here at Des Golden Specialist Cars are happy to inspect your vehicle and carry out any repairs to help it pass the test, there are some checks that you can also do yourself at home before you take your car in for its NCT.

• Clean your car and clear the boot
• Check your lights are working (exterior and interior)
• Top up fluids such as screenwash and engine oil
• Tell our team at Des Golden Specialist Cars if any warning lights have come on, even if it’s only from time to time
• Inspect your tyres for signs of wear or damage
• Check the state of your wipers and replace the blades if they’re not clearing the windscreen properly
